The Buffalo Creek Trail is a rails-with-trails section of the Elk River Rail-Trail system. When completed it will run 18 miles from Dundon to Widen in Clay County.  It was originally owned by the Buffalo Creek & Gauley Railroad company.   Ribbon cutting for this trail construction took place in July 2021 and will restore the rail line in case of future need, while the trail itself will follow along the rail line. Parts of the rail are already used for excursion train rides and rail biking — allowing tourists to use feet-powered cars that travel on the rails.
