Wellsburg-Yankee Trail | West Virginia Rails To Trails

Rail-Trails

The Wellsburg Yankee Trail is a short, paved rail-trail that spans the entire length of Wellsburg, a small city on the Ohio River in West Virginia’s Northern Panhandle. The community trail runs through the heart of the small city, sharing Yankee Street and other low-traffic roads with motor vehicles where the original rail corridor was unavailable for trail development.

At its southern end, the Wellsburg Yankee Trail melds seamlessly into the nearly 7-mile Brooke Pioneer Trail. That trail eventually links with the Wheeling Heritage Trails, forming an uninterrupted off-road route into Wheeling and other parts of Ohio County.
